SLAMDANCE

SAVING ART SELECTED FOR

FILM FESTIVAL

R.M. Moses’s short film 'SAVING ART' has had its world premiere at 2024 Slamdance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, where it received a standing ovation. The oscar-qualifying festival runs alongside Sundance.

The picloc team are proud to have played a key part of this production. Andy PML served as the Director of Photography, with Leo Villares joining as his gaffer. Together they made special use of Lightbridge’s CRLS reflector system to achieve a heightened naturalism with the lighting.

Producer and Assistant Director Victor Nauwynck helped lead the team to complete a difficult shoot with many complex challenges. We filmed in a derelict hospital, with six child actors, in freezing winter conditions.

The film follows the story of Brian and his son Arthur. Instead of telling his newly diagnosed five-year-old son that he has Leukaemia; Brian tells Arthur that the chemotherapy will give him superpowers. In a battle to keep them both positive, Brian is haunted by his lie as he struggles to find hope.

As we witness the innocence of the children in the ward believing the lies their parents tell them, we also see how haunted the parents become. This is a chilling look at how adults project fears of cancer onto children and how fighting the darkness with joy and happiness can also be a form of medicine. Inspired by true events.

Inspired by true events, the film has been tugging on heartstrings at screenings across London. Watch this space - we expect great things as ‘Saving Art’ continues its promising festival run.
